Robot vacuums for pet hair · three separate jobs
Hair left in carpet and hair on the brush need different evidence.
Before comparing robots, identify the problem: hair still pressed into carpet, long strands wound around the roller, or toys and cords blocking the route. A good result on one task does not establish the other two.

For a prepared carpet route, investigate the Q10 S5+ hair-pickup report first. Consider the S5A if low roller wrap and automated mop care address other chores, while accepting its carpet-hair limitation. If loose toys, cords or pet mess cannot be cleared, neither model here earns an unattended-operation promise.
| Your problem | What to look for | What does not answer it |
|---|---|---|
| Hair remains in carpet | Exact-model hair pickup test on carpet | A clean roller after a tangle test |
| Long strands wrap around the brush | Exact-model hair-wrap test and brush access | A suction specification or self-empty dock |
| Cords or pet toys interrupt cleaning | Small-object avoidance evidence and a cleared route | Room mapping alone |
| You want less bin handling | The included emptying station and bag routine | Proof of better hair pickup |
| You also want wet-cleaning automation | The exact mop and dock configuration | Evidence of safe pet-waste handling |

The models we would compare
01 / Consider the hair evidence and floor-prep compromise together
Roborock Q10 S5+
Black · B0DWXBCQVP · bagged auto-empty station
Consider this model when reducing manual bin emptying matters and you can clear the floor before it runs. Evaluate the test limits before buying it for a shedding pet.
- The reviewed plus configuration includes a bagged emptying station
- Hair pickup and roller tangling are addressed separately in the linked test
- The budget guide covers its dated price and remaining mop chores
The trade-off: Vacuum Wars reported 6/24 obstacle avoidance. Tom’s Guide found navigation and runtime trouble in its home test. Those limitations matter even when the hair result is favorable.

For carpet hair on a prepared route, its favorable pickup report makes this the first of these two to investigate. Accept the conflicting navigation evidence and verify return terms; the station does not establish recognition of every toy, cord or accident.
What the research says
In its September 1 review, Vacuum Wars reported 96% pet-hair pickup and no remaining wrap in its 7-inch hair test. These are that publisher’s results, not a guaranteed outcome on your carpet. Its review also notes early failure reports; those do not establish a defect rate.
02 / Separate low brush wrap from carpet-hair pickup
Roborock Qrevo Edge S5A
B0DNDTP9CJ · bagged emptying and mop-care dock
Consider its full mop-care workflow only if you will use it. The exact-model hair results show why anti-tangle performance alone cannot justify a pet-hair award.
- Exact S5A test reports both long-hair wrap and flattened carpet-hair pickup
- Its dock handles debris disposal and automatic mop care
- Original Qrevo Edge results should not be transferred to the S5A
The trade-off: Vacuum Wars reported only 6/24 obstacle avoidance. A more automated mop dock does not establish safe unattended operation around small objects or pet waste.

Compare the S5A if manual mop care is another chore you want reduced. If embedded carpet hair is your main problem, read that result separately from the successful anti-wrap result.
What the research says
Vacuum Wars’ October 8 review reported 0% wrap with 7-inch hair but 78% pickup of flattened 2.5-inch hair in carpet, against its stated 82% average. Those tests measure different jobs; the first result does not erase the second.
Describe the hair problem before choosing a robot
Inspect what your present cleaning routine leaves behind. Is hair still caught in carpet, collected around the roller or scattered on hard floors? Record the floor type and where it happens. A test of a different debris type or surface may not answer that problem.
A bagged station can reduce how often you open the onboard bin. It does not establish that the robot removed hair from the carpet, and it does not eliminate checking brushes, wheels and filters. Follow the actual model’s maintenance instructions.
Read the two review results without inventing a head-to-head winner
The linked reviews were updated on different dates and state different comparison averages. We have not independently verified identical test conditions across them. Their reported percentages are useful evidence to inspect, not a controlled comparison conducted for this guide.
Do not turn an anti-tangle feature, a pressure number or a publisher’s successful sample into a promise for every breed, carpet and cleaning schedule. Check whether the cited test answers your specific pickup or maintenance problem.
Resolve the route before scheduling around pets
Both compared models have weak results in the cited small-object tests. Remove loose cords and toys and inspect for pet mess before a run. Mapping a room and recognizing a small object are separate capabilities.
A full mop dock is a wet-cleaning convenience, not evidence that the robot can handle animal waste. This guide establishes no unattended pet-waste safety promise for either model.
Use the broader guides for dock and budget details
Our main robot guide compares which chores the stations automate, including a vacuum-only j9+ configuration. That configuration is not a pet-hair winner merely because it has dual rubber brushes.
Our under-$300 guide compares dated manufacturer price observations and charging versus auto-empty stations. Keep those ownership decisions separate from the hair-test question rather than assuming the most elaborate dock cleans hair best.
Before buying
Does zero hair wrap mean all pet hair was picked up?
No. Hair wrapping around a roller and hair left in a carpet are different measurements. Inspect both tests rather than using one result as a substitute for the other.
Does self-emptying remove brush maintenance?
No. It transfers bin debris into the dock bag. Brushes, wheels and filters still need the care described in the delivered model’s manual.
Can I compare the percentages as a guaranteed ranking?
No. These are separately published tests with stated limits, not a head-to-head test run by BestOnAmz. Your floor, hair and route can differ.
What if floor preparation is the main problem?
Neither compared model earns an unattended clutter or pet-mess promise here. Prioritize exact-model obstacle evidence before treating hair pickup as the deciding factor.
